A detailed study of the book of 1 Peter Commentary.  While Peter ranks among the best known of New Testament personalities; he gains little attention as a writer of Scripture.  Except for a few select passages, little attention is given to the Epistles of Peter.  In this Epistle, Peter is writing to enlighten and encourage the persecuted saints scattered across Asia Minor.  If you know anything about the life of Simon Peter, you quickly realize that much of what he has to say is drawn from the wells of experience; both those of success and failure.  From his writing one will reap the blessings of hope and help in the midst of troubling times.

This is a commentary on the two most important Pauline Epistles for the new convert. This work contains a detailed exegesis of these two letters of the Apostle Paul, the specific themes of which are the Rapture of the Church and the Second Advent. Also included in the book is Dr. Ruckman’s teaching on the short book of Philemon which was taken from rare transcribed studies not available in any other format.

In this commentary, Dr. Ruckman gives the proper doctrinal context for the first three books of the Hebrew-Christian epistles, carefully showing which passages are doctrinally for the New Testament Christian in the Church Age and which apply to Jews in the Tribulation. Prevalent heretical teachings on these books are examined and corrected from the Scriptures. Other doctrines of interest covered in this work are: the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures, the ministry of Christ between his death and resurrection, the duties of the pastor, and the Gap of Genesis 1:1-2.

In this work, Dr. Ruckman examines the transitional nature of the Johannine Epistles and Jude in regards to the Church Age and the Tribulation. Particular emphasis is put on the double applications that can be made of certain passages. Current peculiar heresies on certain passages are also exposed and dealt with. The textual evidence for the so-called “Johannine Coma” is laid out showing the accuracy and authority of the AV text.

Charles Hodge’s work on 1 and 2 Corinthians, which is part of the Geneva Series of Commentaries, forms one of the most significant parts of the plan for a series of ‘popular commentaries’ on the New Testament. He projected to do this with J. A. Alexander in the 1850s. When the early death of Alexander prevented the completion of the series, the individual volumes were quickly prized in their own right and went through many editions on both sides of the Atlantic.

The qualities which have given Charles Hodge’s commentaries such a wide and enduring market are readily to be seen. In the first place they are singularly clear. The technicalities of critical opinion, which soon cause a volume to become dated, are not to be found in his pages. His aim was to produce commentaries which learned and unlearned alike could consult with profit. Believing that he was dealing with the words of the Holy Spirit he endeavored to set out both what those words contain and the effects which their truth should have upon the conscience and life.

Alexander Nisbet’s commentary on 1 & 2 Peter provides an outstanding practical treatment of his epistles. This Geneva Series of Commentaries is ideal aid for preachers, teachers, group leaders and all students or readers of the Bible. Perhaps of all the apostles, most Christians find themselves most readily drawn to Simon Peter. His failure, restoration and subsequent usefulness provide hope for those who face testing and temptation. Despite that, Peter’s twin epistles are probably given less attention than many other sections of the New Testament. But they continue to speak with power and relevance.

They provide encouragement and assurance from one who himself needed both; they give basic instruction in Christian living; they also provide clear teaching on false doctrine. They are therefore essential letters for Christians today.

This book is a detailed study of the seven letters that God spoke to seven churches in Asia, through His servant John while he was exiled on Patmos. If there was only one portion of Scripture expressly written to benefit “The Church”, this would be it! Seven times the Lord will say; “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches”. Today, more than ever, we need to heed our Lord’s admonishment!

This is an expositional study on Titus and Philemon.  Within the book of Titus, Paul will deal with the servant; his commissioning and his challenge, and the saints; their character, their chastening, and their conversation.  Titus will set forth the qualifications for leadership while magnifying the qualities that are to be prevalent in laity.  The book of Philemon is a personal letter written by the Apostle Paul to Philemon, a friend and companion in the work.  The purpose of the letter is to help reinstate Philemon’s rebel servant, that has been converted and desires to be in a proper relationship with his master.  The letter pictures for us the work of Christ to reconcile rebellious sinners to a proper relationship with a Righteous and Holy God.
