Description
The word “book” in the New Testament is translated from the Greek word biblos. “Bible” is just a transliteration of this word, so linguistically and practically it is proper to say that the Bible is “the book.”
The Bible is, however, “the Book” in a number of other ways. No other book can compare. Since it is the only Book verbally inspired, inerrantly preserved and infallibly reliable, it is completely unique.
Dr. Shelton Smith presents a reverential look at the great Book, showing that such a special work could come only from God. Its perfection can be seen in all areas, including science. Its vast storehouse of knowledge exceeds the grasp of time and culture and humanity. Its history and prophecy show us that God knows all that has happened and all that will happen. Surely each one of us would do well to take to heart its instructions regarding what is happening now in our own life.
The Book We Call the Bible will give you a new appreciation for the incomparable treasure of God’s written revelation to us. When you take your Bible in hand, you are not just holding a book—you are holding “the Book.”
