Description
What is heaven like? Reflecting upon the biblical descriptions of the believer’s eternal home with Christ, Dr. Ivor Powell provides a fascinating introduction to our heavenly destination!
Gathering a biblical description of, “the Father’s country” from both the Old and New Testaments, Powell sets forth nineteen propositions regarding the location, composition, lifestyle, and administration of heaven.
Some of his propositions include:
-Angels are primarily our helpers not our guardians.
-Heaven’s department of agriculture will be phenomenal.
-The rainbow is the prettiest sight in heaven.
-It will be easy to recognize Christ in heaven.
“People who plan foreign vacations visit travel agents, consult brochures, plan the journey, [and] obtain a passport,” writes Dr. Powell. “The best brochure about eternity is the Bible.”
Ivor Powell was born in Crosskeys, Monmouth, Wales. Following his conversion, he attended South Wales Bible Training Institute. He was ordained as a minister of the Baptist Union of Vales in 1934 and began his pastoral ministry in Barry, Glamorganshire, Wales. His ministry has taken him to all parts of the English-speaking world, and in 1971 Trinity College honored him with a D.D. degree. Known internationally as “the Man from Wales,” Powell is a master of the art of pictorial preaching and a master at making the biblical text come alive.
