A detailed study of the book of 1 Peter Commentary.  While Peter ranks among the best known of New Testament personalities; he gains little attention as a writer of Scripture.  Except for a few select passages, little attention is given to the Epistles of Peter.  In this Epistle, Peter is writing to enlighten and encourage the persecuted saints scattered across Asia Minor.  If you know anything about the life of Simon Peter, you quickly realize that much of what he has to say is drawn from the wells of experience; both those of success and failure.  From his writing one will reap the blessings of hope and help in the midst of troubling times.

Description

Moved by the leadership of Holy Spirit and the wickedness of the present age, Peter is once again motivated to deliver another pertinent communication “to them that have obtained like precious faith.” In only a year’s time, the evils of the world, the flesh, and the devil has ceased to only be an outward threat, but are now present within the body. Having infiltrated the local assemblies as false teachers and scoffers, they rise in opposition to the Word and the Work of God. Within the letter Peter addresses his audience as being believers, brethren, and blessed; emphasizing spiritual equality within the body of Christ. While Peter writes from multiple perspectives; that of a shepherd, a servant and a saint; the singular passion is love for the brethren. By the means of repetition and remembrance, Peter encourages them to “grow in the grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” While it was written in the past; Peter’s letter is relevant for the present.
