Description
John Gano was a Baptist pastor who served in churches in various locations through his life, He also organized or aided in organizing many Baptist assemblies. During the American Revolution he served as chaplain under General George Washington. During a ceremony celebrating the end of the war the General asked Reverend John Gano to give the prayer thanking God for His hand in the conflict. John Gano continued to preach as much as was possible until he died on August 9, 1804.
